Postpartum Education and Support Selected New Executive Director

September 2015

RALEIGH, NC - I'm writing with exciting news! The Board of Directors of Postpartum Education and Support has selected Courtney Scott as our new executive director.

I know you all will enjoy meeting Courtney and working with her in the coming months. Courtney is a social worker by training and education and has most recently worked in that capacity. She has significant experience working in non-profits of varying sizes and in different capacities. Courtney’s background demonstrates her commitment to working in areas of human need. She brings a particular passion for women’s health issues, especially in the area of postpartum mood disorders. Her desire to expand her knowledge of women’s health was demonstrated by her certification as a postpartum doula this year.

Our need for a new director arose at the same time Courtney committed to focusing her professional life specifically on women’s health issues and postpartum mood disorders. Throughout the interview process, we have become convinced that the timing was in fact perfect. Courtney offers a passion for the mission of Postpartum Education and Support and has already demonstrated a vision for helping our organization expand its ability to reach women and their families. Through her non-profit partnerships, Courtney has gained valuable experience in outreach and as a community advocate to advance the goals of each organization.

We are excited to move forward with Courtney as our executive director, and we are confident Postpartum Education and Support will expand its place in our community as a leader in providing support for women and their families dealing with postpartum mood disorders.

Courtney has worked closely with our outgoing executive director, Caroline Pence, and with Laura Meyers, our administrative coordinator. Many thanks to each of them for their work in ensuring a smooth transition.

We appreciate your support and know that you will join us in welcoming Courtney to our organization.

Many thanks,
Carrie E. Meigs
Chair of the Board
