Rebecca Hankins named Director of Development and External Affairs for Durham Arts Center
(Durham, NC September 26, 2006) Rebecca Hankins, former Director of Annual Giving at Saint Peter's College in New Jersey has recently been appointed the Director of Development & External Affairs at the Durham Arts Council.
Rebecca has widespread experience in the arts. After receiving her Masters in Museum Studies from Seton Hall University, she initiated the first formal Development efforts at Aljira, a Center for Contemporary Art in Newark, New Jersey.
In addition, she worked at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center on their capital campaign and major gift endeavors. Rebecca recently relocated to the Triangle area with her husband Scott, Assistant Registrar at the Ackland Art Museum.

Founded in 1954, Allied Arts occupied several facilities before moving into the former City Hall on Morris Street in 1978, three years after changing its name to Durham Arts Council, Inc. In the mid 1980s, after a three year renovation, the city-owned building became DAC's long term home and, together with the adjacent Carolina Theatre, part of the Royall Center for the Arts in Downtown Durham.
