Youth Empowered Solutions seeks a Development Director, Raleigh, NC

Reporting to and in partnership with the Executive Director, the Development Director will spearhead development activities as YES! continues to grow. A new position in the organization, the Director will have the opportunity to build the development function. Specific duties include:

  • Develop and execute fundraising goals and strategies as part of the fundraising plan
  • Provide staff support to the Resource Development Committee
  • Train and manage fundraising volunteers; train and lead staff in fundraising efforts
  • Plan, organize and implement a growing and diverse fundraising program including major gifts, the annual campaign, regional and statewide special events, public and private grants, direct mail, telephone and web-based solutions
  • Cultivates strategic partnerships with other public health, youth and advocacy organizations
  • Manage the Custom Programs Initiative, whereby clients pay a fee for training, technical assistance and assessments
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and public relations strategy
  • Manage donor database (ETapestry)

The ideal candidate will have Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of professional fundraising experience, preferably with a nonprofit organization. Other qualification include: ability to work independently and creatively; a demonstrated ability to think strategically, ability to prospect, cultivate and manage donors; strong partnership building and event planning skills; experience with ETapestry; a familiarity with public health, social justice, youth empowerment and/or advocacy; excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills, oral communication and ability to participate in public speaking events; interest, enthusiasm and affinity for fundraising and working with people; ability to work as a member of team; work on several projects and to meet deadlines.
