THE ORGANIZATION

Paws4ever is an animal welfare organization dedicated to creating and growing lifetime relationships between pets and people through adoption, training, education and care. Located on a beautiful rural property in Orange County, NC, Paws4ever offers a comprehensive array of services to save animals and support pets and people throughout their lives together.

Paws4ever offers a range of services to support pets and people in our community throughout their lifetimes.

  • The Adoption Center is a limited-admission shelter focused primarily on rescuing pets in need at our local county shelters and giving them the time and resources they need to find forever homes.
  • The Dog Training Program offers a comprehensive array of accessible group classes and private lessons using positive and effective methods.
  • The Legacy Care Program provides a loving home for members’ pets when their owners are no longer able to provide care.
  • The 3-acre Dog Park and half-mile Nature Trail offer opportunities for members and their dogs to enjoy the outdoors together.
  • The ReSale Store is a friendly and fun thrift store with the proceeds from the sales of high quality used goods supporting Paws4ever’s work.

Paws4ever believes in treating animals with dignity and respect. We believe that positive reinforcement is the humane and effective way to train animals. Paws4ever commits to our animals for a lifetime and never euthanizes for space. We support our entire animal welfare community, including our open-admission county shelter partners.

The organization has been supporting animals in our community since 1972 under the legal name “The Animal Protection Society of Orange County.” In 2008, the organization was renamed “Paws4ever” to reflect our current mission and programs and affirm our commitment to support pets and their owners through every stage of their lives in order to keep pets in homes and build happy pet-human relationships.
